History
Planet Gold was founded by Will Lawton in 2002 and operates from a rural farm and business park in Wiltshire. Originally an event management and production company, the décor side of the business started to grow following the acquisition of the Ice Palace from Temple Décor in 2004.
In order to allow the décor side of the business to grow independently, Planet Gold Décor Ltd was formed in 2006. Colin de Silva, Harry Penfold and Phil Radford became partners in the business. The company took over an industrial workshop and converted it to house an office, storage facility and large space for the manufacture, drying and repair of decor.
Each year our in-house range of décor and lighting has steadily expanded as have our capabilities. We now have the ability to transform anything from a small clear span tent or village hall to giant temporary structures, sports halls and aircraft hangars in a range of themes. We have worked at major festivals including ‘WOMAD’ and ‘End of the Road’, have installed our decor as far afield as Dubai and have provided decor for royal occasions.
We are proud to use and support British artists, designers, engineers and craftsmen when manufacturing our decor. The huge variation in the events and venues we work with combined the continuous development of new decor, production methods and installation techniques makes this a very challenging and exciting business to be involved with.
Long may it continue.
Will Lawton
