Exquisite wedding decor and spinning heart mobile at the Vintage Weddning Fayre

We have been developing this exquisite, white decor for some time now and have been able to showcase in a wedding environment for the first time.  The Vintage Wedding Fayre was held at The Vale Hotel, Cardiff on 19^th February 2012 and was organised by Empire Events.

This decor has been designed to fit plain, box-shaped rooms and marquees and the large function room at this hotel provided the perfect space for us to show off this new decor.  The white fabric has a beautiful piece of commissioned decorative artwork printed onto it (artist:  Edward J Hicks).  The fabric overlays are on a relatively cheap fabric allowing brides to change the colour of the decor to suit their colour scheme for a small, additional charge.  For this event we chose ‘battleship grey’.

The rotating heart has been made to suspend over the top table or to replace the traditional mirror ball over the dance floor.  Made from mild steel, the centre-piece was hand twisted by a local blacksmith.  This causes the mobile to reflect light causing a stunning pulsating effect.

Planet Gold Decor were proud to be a sponsor of the Event Production Awards Show, held at Hilton Park Lane on 1st February 2011.  After a succesful day exhibiting at Olympia, the team threw on their best frocks and headed to Mayfair for dinner, drinks and awards, hosted by comedian Mark Steel.

Will Lawton, the founder of Planet Gold, gave the industry award to Brilliant Stages for ‘Staging Company of the Year’.  The stages this company have created are pretty mind-blowing and their customers include bands such us U2, Muse and Coldplay.

We were also delighted for a client of ours, Wellpleased Events, who picked up the award for ‘Set Design/Finishing Touches’.  Planet Gold Decor are proud to have helped the Wellpleased team create some stunning environments in 2011 including the Sparkle Ball held at the Royal Armouries, Leeds and the Santas Grotto installed at Selfridges, London.

Our team shared a table with old friends from Table Art who provided the stunning table decorations at the awards show.

The Enchanted Forest
Paintworks, Bristol (Dec 2011)

This regeneration project on 12 acres of industrial buildings in Bristol has left Paintworks with a very interesting and unusual event space in the heart of an impressive sustainable development. Our recent challenge was to install our Enchanted Forest decor into this event space for a month long run of Christmas party nights.

This old factory building had some interesting features that we wanted to keep and some industrial features which we needed to cover to allow guests to feel comfortable in a warm and enchanted environment.

We turned the steel girders into tree trunks, turned an old chimney stack into a cave for karaoke and covered the conduit filled ceiling with tree canopies, branches, foliage and lanterns. Red brick walls were left exposed and other walls were covered with our wild wood backdrops.

Once the team from Bubble had finished adding the table decorations, bar and furniture to the room the overall effect was stunning and certainly unique.

The Enchanted Forest in the Event Space at Paintworks

Wellington College in Berkshire have just hosted the international ‘Round Square Conference’ which saw 1000 delegates from around the world head to the UK to be given a taste of British culture.

The main conference took place in a giant 40m x 40m sports hall and Planet Gold (in conjunction with production company ‘Visions’) spent three days transforming the venue as seen in the time lapse video above.

In the past the school has found conferences held in this room a bit dark SO this year they turned to Planet Gold to create a white, bright and vibrant environment.  During the installation, it was thrown upon us that one of the guest speakers at the conference was to be none other than Queen, Elizabeth II which did put the pressure on us to produce an immaculate installation.

Santas Grotto, Selfridges, Oxford St, London. Image courtsey of 'Wellpleased Events'

If you head to London this December then please check out our handy-work in the grotto at the world famous Selfridges department store in Londons Oxford Street.  Our winter ice decor lends itself perfectly to this ‘ice grotto’.

The grotto is open between 19th November and 24th December and costs £7 for adults and £3 for children to enter.  This year, each child’s experience at the Santas Grotto is expected to last around 30 minutes, including the visit with Father Christmas. The grotto can be found on the lower ground floor of Selfridges in the Ultralounge.

Planet Gold Decor worked with Sam Welply and the Wellpleased team to create a truely magical environment.  Hats off to Sam for the overall vision!!
